I grew up in England in a house full of cats and 2 tortoises in the garden. When my sister started working at an animal park, I would go and help out with the domestic farm animals as well as the more exotic ones, such as alpacas. Later on, I moved to Germany where I learned the language, explored many European countries, rescued elderly and ill cats from the shelter to give them a wonderful home for their remaining time, and spent some years doing volunteer work, looking after a herd of sheep comprised of 2 protected races. A few years ago, I moved to Switzerland, where I have completed one of my dreams - working with cats! Apart from having a mini job at the only cat cafe in Switzerland, I offer professional catsitting in my home as well as doing volunteer work with a cat rescue shelter, a local amphibian protection group and a neighbourhood group which offers all kinds of help to elderly people. I still enjoy travelling and would like to visit many more places, but Switzerland is an expensive place to live, so there isn’t much money left over for holidays. That’s why house and pet sitting is the perfect thing for me: I get to visit amazing places, I can spend time with animals (I especially love cats, reptiles, sheep, goats and horses), I meet interesting people and learn about daily life and I get to help out people who don’t have the funds to put their pets in a shelter or who have animals who would be traumatised by that experience. Up until now, I have found places just by word of mouth, but now I’d like to proactively find opportunities further afield which is why I recently created this account.
